Still Lame

I rode Truck [w/t/c/j in stadium] in the Saturday 10:00 lesson. He was AWESOME! If we won the lottery, and I could own two horses, Truck would be my next choice. But I would HAVE to change his name, obviously. Who wants a horse named Truck? Anyway.

Tried to ride Dakota for a private.
He was lame.
Once again.

So, if the vet's free on Friday [either Dr. White in Sallisaw or Dr. Bullock who has a portable xray machine] he'll get it xrayed. After a month, I finally convinced my dad to get him some xrays... Actually, Saturday after I got home I had mom talk to him first. =] Strategy.

Semi-Good Ride...

walk, trot, canter, jump

He was a brat at the canter. He was still limping at the trot at first. From then on, when we trotted I always felt like I was on the wrong diagonal when I wasn't. The trot was just wierd.

We did a small crossrail and the blue lattice-work panel jump at its lowest setting. He got fast afterward, and sometimes rushed it, so we had to work quite awhile on calming down.

Once he got really bratty so I circled him hard the opposite way, AND HE SWITCHED LEADS! Then I circled him the way we'd been going, AND HE SWITCHED LEADS AGAIN! Haha. That made me happy. He sped up when I dropped my outside rein to rub his neck, but they were very smooth, awesome flying lead changes.

Eckk.

Did dressage with Dakota again last night...
He didn't do nearly as well.

I guess that's a lesson learned. Never do it exactly the same twice in a row. Or at least not without Kim there.

Group + Private = Eventing Day

Hahaha. So, I rode Truck in my group lesson at ten this morning. AWESOME! He is the bravest, most awesome horse ever. If I could own two horses, I would totally try to buy Truck. I would HAVE to change his name, but I would definately try to buy Truck.

We did w/t/c. VERY heavy on the forehand, hard to bend, but he would go on the bit and he was forward. Jealous of his free walk, wish Dakota had it.
Jumped in STADIUM! I was SO happy! I haven't jumped in OVER a MONTH! I was actually getting kind of depressed watching other people jump and just having to sit there...

Private lesson!
I rode Koda. We did DRESSAGE! =] So, I kind of had a "combined" day. haha. We worked a TON on our WALK. His walk is horrendus. But, by the end of the lesson he was forward, somewhat on the bit, and he was reaching and stretching out. We even got him to stretch his neck down for his free walk! ^_^ Excitement!
The trot we worked on and got much much much better. Our great trot led into an AWESOME transition to the canter, and a much smoother canter.

All in all..
GREAT day!
Even my mom said I was much happier today than I've been for a long time. It was theraputic for me today, I believe.

4 Rides - Great Day! ^_^

Rode Dakota in the lesson - w/t/c for warm-up. Trotted w/o stirrups, cantered w/o stirrups before he started limping.

Rode Rocky - w/t. LEANED LIKE A MOTORCYCLE!!! I was afraid he'd fall over if we cantered he was leaning so bad! Decided to put him back through Clinton Anderson boot camp before he gets shipped off again. =[

Rode Panther bareback - helped Jamie turn out, and I w/t/c'd her to push everyone out.

Rode SPOT! @ Jamie's house... just did w/t, in her western saddle, no stirrups because I COULDN'T REACH THEM. haha. But, I got a rash on my thighs from riding in shorts w/o stirrups.

Turned Out on Horseback

Yes. I did w/t/c on Dakota bareback. Trot was okay... I'm thinking canter in our lesson was better yesterday. He's started leaning a tiny bit again...
We walked all the way out back to check the hay, then I turned out the rented group on Koda. Then I untacked at the barn and let him go out with his group and hopped on Panther.

I couldn't ride Rocky today, so I got my workout in on Panther bareback. Wore a saddle with Dakota. =]

Lesson - Sorta

Since I'm going to be at Jamie's house saturday morning, and NOT at the barn [once again... heh.] I took a lesson tonight.

We just did w/t/c.
Today was the second day I cantered him since him being off. He also had random lame moments in the very beginning, but once we were fully warmed up, he was fine. Not a foot out of place.

Hoping to be in shape for the August 30 show... Why is it that I'm ALWAYS rushing to be ready for shows?

Coming Back!

I have successfully ridden Dakota for the first time since he last injured himself, OVER a month ago. HECK YES!

He was PERFECT.
Walk, trot, CANTER.
[I've been lunging him, so he was good to canter a few circles each way.]

He's VERY stiff, but after ten mintues of walk, he's halfway decent. [Small, small circles @ walk.]
I did plenty of figure eight's at the trot.
Canter was NIIIIICE!

He was on his butt, I did NO work [except for some speed control] and I LOVED it! Kimberly witnessed it... she said it was impressive as well! It was so smooth, I felt like I was riding Chase!

I <3 My Horse.
